The 72nd Cannes Film Festival is halfway through and almost all of our Bollywood celebrities have marked their attendance by walking down the red carpet in their extravagant haute-couture. From actresses like Aishwarya Rai who has been part of Cannes since 2002 to 2019 debutants Priyanka Chopra and Diana Penty, Cannes didn't disappoint us at all.
However, as the event is about to wrap up very soon, we couldn't help but contemplate about the lavish gowns and elaborate trails for the last time. And while we were doing so, we had a eureka moment as we discovered the inspiration behind these beautiful outfits!
1. Diana Penty

Diana Penty debuted in Cannes Film Festival this year. Well, her looks were pretty decent, but it was the yellow dress which caught our attention, and she confirmed our suspicion regarding the inspiration by captioning it 'Feather Weather'.
2. Sonam Kapoor

The fashion diva arrived at the French Riviera a little late than we had expected. And her first appearance at Cannes 2019 was a red floor-length gown designed by Valentino. Sonam, we were waiting for your look and you absolutely shocked us by looking like a red jellyfish swirling in the ocean. Sonam, the red jellyfish is a rare creature, and we hardly get to see it, and we want the same for your dress.
3. Aishwarya Rai

Aishwarya Rai's first look at Cannes was a golden gown designed by Jean-Louis Sabaji. Well, Ash, we loved Aaradhya's look, but your reptile inspired golden dress failed to impress. Her next gown in which she looked like a candy cane basking in the sun was probably designed by Santa Claus himself.
4. Priyanka Chopra

After Met Gala, Priyanka played a little safe on the Cannes red carpet. But not for long! Priyanka Chopra arrived at the Chopard's party wearing a purple Fendi Couture dress with shell-like features towards the bottom. Priyanka we know you hate liars, but we are telling you the truth, you look like one of the dragon eggs from GOT.
5. Deepika Padukone

Deepika would win an award for donning the most bizarre looks at Cannes 2019. And the dress for which she will receive the award is definitely the green voluminous Dundas gown. Where did the stylist take the inspiration from? Loofah and a shower cap?
6. Kangana Ranaut

Kangana made it difficult for us to decide who should win the award for the best bizarre look with her Mithun Chakraborty inspired suit. Kangana, don't ever take style cues from Mithun again!
These were our take on the celebrity gowns and their source of inspiration. Let us know how you liked it.
