A 3-year old girl has been brutally killed in Uttar Pradesh and the entire country has been condemning the act.
The murder of a 3-year-old girl Twinkle Sharma in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh has shaken the entire nation. The shocking part is that the murder took place after her parents denied to repay a loan of Rs. 10,000. Zahid and Aslam are the main culprits of this gut-wrenching incident.
Reportedly, the girl's body was found in a dumping ground near her house on 2nd June 2019, which is three days after she went missing. Her body was discovered after the stray dogs of the area were seen carrying a packet which had human parts.
The spread of misinformation in the case
Social Media is a platform with infinite reach. Tweets went viral on the internet where people were demanding justice for Twinkle with misinformation that the girl was raped. People across the world mourned and the hashtags #JusticeForTwinkleSharma and #Aligarh spread like wildfire over the internet. This misinformation was clarified after a popular fact-checking site confirmed that the post-mortem report had no traces of rape. However, it revealed that the culprits killed her by cutting her up, gouging out her eyes and dumped her body.
Arrest of the culprits
An FIR has been filed against both the accused, Zahid and Aslam, and they have been arrested by the UP Police. Family of the little girl requested UP CM Yogi Adityanath and PM Narendra Modi to punish the culprits severely. They also expressed their concern regarding their safety if the culprits were ever released in the future. The duo has also been booked under the National Security Act (NSA).
Twinkle's parents also accepted that they owed money to Zahid, who was their neighbour and also had an argument related to it a day before their girl went missing. They further added that Zahid had also warned them of grave consequences if they failed to return his money.
Moreover, Twinkle Sharma's mother has also made a dire allegation against the co-accused Aslam by claiming that he had earlier raped his own minor daughter.
Celebrities expressing their concern
The country is no doubt outraged by this heinous act and is seeking to get justice with the most severe punishment for the culprits. Bollywood celebrities these days make sure to come forward and raise their voices against such barbaric acts and did so this time as well.
Celebrities also followed up with the trending tweets where it was mentioned that the girl was raped by the two culprits until the Aligarh Police clarified the fact. However, murdering a little child for merely some amount of money is considered equally inhuman and deserves equal punishment as rape.
India's recent law, introducing a death penalty for child rapists should be amended including the death penalty for murders as well. The northern states of India, especially UP, have always been in limelight for theft, murder and rape cases. It is high time the government comes up with stringent laws to curb the horrendous crime rate.
